Panasonic HC-VX870 4K Ultra HD Camcorder
Not only can you capture Ultra HD 4K (3840 x 2160) with the Panasonic HC-VX870 4K Ultra HD Camcorder, but you can superimpose a secondary video image from your smartphone's camera via a Wi-Fi connection. In this way, covering two camera angles at once within a single recording becomes possible. Other notable features include a 20x optical zoom lens with a 29.5 to 626mm equivalent focal length - giving you a wide angle when zoomed out, a substantial amount of telephoto when zoomed in, and a lot to work with in between. For slowing fast action, the HC-VX870 captures 120 fps native slow-motion at 1080p resolution, which can be slowed down even further using in-camera interpolation - giving you a 240 fps final video.
For steadier handheld shooting, the HC-VX870 features Panasonic's HYBRID O.I.S.+, which combines optical and digital image stabilization to provide 5-axis correction. Adjustable settings allow you to find a stabilization mode most appropriate for the kind of shooting you are doing. From OFF for tripod work, to Normal for regular handheld work, all the way up to Strong for those times when things really get shaky.
The HC-VX870's Wi-Fi does more than let you capture from your phone's camera. You can preview a live image on your mobile device using the Panasonic Image App and change camera settings. If the camera has Internet access, you can even upload web-friendly copies of videos and photos directly to social media websites. Plus, there's a Baby Monitor function which lets you use the camera like an IP surveillance camera, viewing a remote feed across the Internet.
HDR (High Dynamic Range) Movie Recording
Much like HDR still photos, the HDR movie function combines two images recorded with different exposure times and uses the best from both. This helps improve detail in the shadows and highlights so that you are less likely to see blown-out highlights or crushed blacks. Ideal for difficult to expose scenes, such as a subject standing in shadow with bright light behind.

iA (Intelligent Auto) / iA Plus Mode

Level Shot Function
Level Shot automatically detects and corrects tilting in images. It can be adjusted to three different levels - OFF, Normal, or Strong - depending on shooting conditions. The 5-Axis HYBRID O.I.S.+ image stabilization system uses five-axis correction to suppress blurring.
20x Optical Zoom with 4-Drive Lens System

50x iZoom
The camera's 20x optical zoom is further extended - out to 50x - with iZoom. iZoom combines optical and digital zoom, taking advantage of extra sensor resolution not required for video recording. This enables reduced image quality lost compared to conventional digital zoom.
Sound Recording
The microphone features a special damping material to help reduce wind noise for enhanced outdoor shooting. The mic itself is comprised of four 6mm-diameter, high-S/N mic capsules and aluminum electrolytic capacitors are employed to reduce sound distortion and increase clarity.
Works with Remote Pan Tilt Cradle
This optional accessory, available separately, uses a motion sensor featured on the camcorder to automatically track a moving subject when mounted between the camera and a tripod. The cradle has a 180° range of horizontal motion and a 15° vertical range. In addition, when combined with Wi-Fi connectivity, the cradle can be used as a remote pan/tilt control system for the camera, allowing you to operate the camcorder even if mounted in an inaccessible location or from another room.
