This quest to find the warmth, the inner flame of lavender, naturally guided Lavincense towards frankincense, and more specifically olibanum oil. Native to India, the shrub produces a protective resin that is revered for its fresh, camphorous, spicy, peppery scent considered sacred since Ancient Greek times. The frankincense that is burned to sweeten the air in spiritual rituals creates a calming, enveloping presence and is as purifying as lavender in the collective mind.
